Well, The Foo was at
The GetDown - and he got so far down they had to scrape him off the Wok! Truth is, as far as festivals go - Foo don't like em so big. So to be in attendance at the very first GetDown was something else - it was the perfect size crowd with a huge lineup of Kickin' Bands!
Deep in the woods, down in possom hollar, the setting for the festival was gorgeous - and so was the weather - 80 degrees all weekend and not a drop of rain. But, back to the music! I heard actually several people in passing say that this was one of the best festivals they'd ever been to - a big compliment to the producer, Brandon Viavant. His selection of the lineup was supurb - amazing bands one right after the other - the entire weekend stretched out along the same harmonious vibes as the bands came one after another. It didn't even matter if you were at the stage or down the hill on the peninsula; the music just floated over just about the entire festival area.
The Matras were one of the biggest draws and I believe the headliners playing two nights. But, Foo must point out two crazy bands that he was introduced to:
The Native Sway from Boone rocked out hard with tons and tons (did I mention A LOT) of energy! Totally fun band. And as soon as they stopped we all turned to the second stage; Next up:
The Movement (pictured above). Now this is band you can sink your Sunday loving beer into! Funky Reggae Rock at it's finest! Great energy and vibes - I will be tracking this band down anywhere within a 50 mile radius - a must see!
So, let's see. The Foo went off on the music but, must recap a bit on the festival itself...the porta-potties were clean, the bon fire jams were huge, there were
fire spinners and body painters, great food vendors and an ice cream truck!
Seriously, I can't wait to see what Viavant Productions and crew pull out of their hats next year - just don't let it get to big eh?
Rock ON and get DOWN!!
-Foo!
